As the 16th of July deadline for faculty approval forms approaches, I felt a sense of relief when I randomly checked my UWA e-mail to find the above message waiting to be read…but that was 9 days ago, and for some reason the online exchange application system, HERMES, is still showing this:

Sure, like anyone, I can be forgetful at times…but sorry HERMES, if you would just take the time out of your busy day to read my previous post, you will see that I DEFINATELY attempted it :P . However, according to Wikipedia, you are the great messenger of the gods in Greek mythology and additionally [act] as a guide to the Underworld…so you probably don’t have time, which is a little worrying for my application :O. Why is a great messenger of the gods also acting as a guide to the underworld, and why is he being trusted with processing student exchange applications? Wait, I see now, you are also the god of commerce, thieves, travellers, sports, and border crossings…which makes a little more sense, if you ignore the thief part…? I guess I have a few more days before I have to go down to the Underworld and ask him “what’s up?”, so until then I will continue to try and stay busy over the Uni break :) …and possibly stalk HERMES some more in case no progress is made by the 15th and my only option left is to defeat him in some kind of god-like showdown of epic proportions. It wont involve boxing or wrestling though because Wikipedia says that he created them, so maybe a few rounds of Wii Tennis instead?

Update: I just discovered that HERMES is also a trickster, who according to Wikipedia plays tricks or otherwise disobeys normal rules and conventional behaviour. So it probably wouldn’t be surprising if it was 11:50pm on the 15th and it still said “Not attempted” – I just hope someone is around at the time to remind me to just laugh it off :P
